As I wrote on Yelp (excerpted here): Pat is not only a car and motorcycle enthusiast, but also a great person in the world. He is "green" (and so is his shop), and if you look through the huge stack of magazines he has for you to read, you'll see his bigger concerns for the environment, world politics, and more. He loves his clients and we know it. Pat even holds parties for us, complete with food, drink and live music. The evidence is on the walls of his space, along with cool wonders of the world (have you looked at those masks?). Now how many other auto shop owners in SF do this? Let me know if you can name just one. Augie Barone (a deep thinker and a car guy if I ever met one) and Karin Roper (a taxidermy aficionado and a way smart woman of the world) drive the front so smoothly that they earned my respect the day I met them. They guys who work on your car, Richie and Fred, are gifted mechanics (and they're great to look at). My car will be 21 this fall, and I will keep driving it as long as I can because I think we all need to try wearing things out to save off the consumer culture and marketing madness of USAmerica. Although it doesn't have airbags, it has Pat's Garage and an engine that hums thanks to Pat and his crew.
